Kanye West, in response to the Bonnaroo controversy. Having been there, the disappointment had less to do with him being late, and more to do with him having zero interaction with the crowd, and the fact that he just quickly and awkwardly ducked off stage after the last song without any indication that he was done, thus leaving no chance for an encore, and making it the most bizarrely uncomfortable end of a concert that I have ever experienced.
Rush plays their own song on Rock Band backstage at the Colbert Report. I don’t think they’re quite ready for expert mode.

Music video for “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” starring Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island. The Dudes have been all over the place lately… be sure to check out their online spots for Klondike.
Strange Overtones, a track released as a free digital download off of a new album by David Byrne and Brian Eno. Byrne says that he’s ditching traditional marketing techniques and relying almost solely on “Internet word-of-mouth” to promote the new record. Tour kicks off in September.
Ben Folds - Bitch When Nutz
A track off the fake “leak” of the upcoming Ben Folds Album, Way to Normal. According to Wikipedia, Ben and his band “recorded fake versions of songs from the new album when they ‘had a night to kill in Dublin’, and had a friend leak it to the public ‘to give them something to listen to.’” Ben admitted that the leak’s versions of Brainwascht, The Frown Song and Free Coffee were fake, so who knows what the hell this is, but it’s hilarious.
You can grab the entire fake “leak” here, and Ben set up the leak himself, so you don’t have to feel bad about it either.
It astounds me that there is not a single musician, executive, government, or organization that would want to buy this man’s collection at his asking price. Screw figuring out where to put them, you could store all the valuable records in a fort made out of all the non-collectible records. Come’on millionaires, get your act together. (via forty)
A music video for 1st Big Break by Cut Chemist, shot with a 360 degree panoramic lens and a fist full of awesomeness.
Like Lazenby (Solo Demo) - Sondre Lerche
Tuesday night Nardo and I went to The World Cafe Live to see Sondre Lerche perform at the last stop on his most recent North American tour.
This song is from an EP he was selling called Polaroid Pumpkin Party. It cost $15 and all of the copies are personally burnt and signed by him, and include a unique Polaroid photograph. More artists should do this because I doubt they get much of a cut from the commercial albums they sell at shows anyways. Sondre makes himself immune to falling victim to the changing economics of the music business by knowing how to put on an amazing live show, and by not being afraid to put his heart into little independent limited releases. That’s not to say he doesn’t make a good amount of his living from things like Dan in Real Life, I’m just making a point that he’s smart and genuine enough to be able to set himself up for a long and intimate relationship with his core fan base. Love your fans and they’ll love you back.
I’ll post a scan of the photo I got once I get it back from Ryan (who I lent my album to so that he could rip it and keep his copy unopened).
