Dirty Projectors Performing in The Roots’ Dressing Room - @questlove
Two months ago, following their performance of When the World Comes to an End on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon [video], Dirty Projectors wooed Questlove and The Roots by doing an acoustic version of the song backstage. The video ends with the two groups talking about the possibility of performing together at some point in the near future.
On November 22, the The Roots joined Dirty Projectors for two songs at a gig in New York, at a show which featured many other surprises, including an onstage appearance by David Byrne. Three days later, Amber Coffman and Haley Dekle of Dirty Projectors joined The Roots back on the set of Late Night [video] to perform with Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Jesus.
Best alliance in late night, wayohh.
The Flu - Me Freestyling w/ the “I Am T-Pain” App
Two nights ago I downloaded the I Am T-Pain app for my iPhone, and despite being exhausted from starting classes and helping my dad start up his business, I ended up staying up for a few hours to mess around with the thing. After attempting to cover some T-Pain songs, I decided to freestyle a bit. Not having any clue what I was going to sing about, this is the train wreck that followed.
Maybe I should leave the hit-making to the pros.
Maybe I live too much in the context of my own generation, but this is exactly the type of thing that delights and amazes me.

Well, it looks like I jumped the gun a bit. The Dudes shot a video for I’m on a Boat, and it aired during last night’s episode of SNL. It’s embedded in HD, so go full screen for the full T-Pain-graced glory.
Here’s the real Bonnaroo lineup
Dear god do I hope that I get invited to shoot video at Bonnaroo again this year.
This could be me getting bumrushed by Springsteen’s crotch:

It needs to happen.

Like Lazenby (Solo Demo) - Sondre Lerche
Tuesday night Nardo and I went to The World Cafe Live to see Sondre Lerche perform at the last stop on his most recent North American tour.
This song is from an EP he was selling called Polaroid Pumpkin Party. It cost $15 and all of the copies are personally burnt and signed by him, and include a unique Polaroid photograph. More artists should do this because I doubt they get much of a cut from the commercial albums they sell at shows anyways. Sondre makes himself immune to falling victim to the changing economics of the music business by knowing how to put on an amazing live show, and by not being afraid to put his heart into little independent limited releases. That’s not to say he doesn’t make a good amount of his living from things like Dan in Real Life, I’m just making a point that he’s smart and genuine enough to be able to set himself up for a long and intimate relationship with his core fan base. Love your fans and they’ll love you back.
I’ll post a scan of the photo I got once I get it back from Ryan (who I lent my album to so that he could rip it and keep his copy unopened).
A music video for 1st Big Break by Cut Chemist, shot with a 360 degree panoramic lens and a fist full of awesomeness.
It astounds me that there is not a single musician, executive, government, or organization that would want to buy this man’s collection at his asking price. Screw figuring out where to put them, you could store all the valuable records in a fort made out of all the non-collectible records. Come’on millionaires, get your act together. (via forty)
Ben Folds - Bitch When Nutz
A track off the fake “leak” of the upcoming Ben Folds Album, Way to Normal. According to Wikipedia, Ben and his band “recorded fake versions of songs from the new album when they ‘had a night to kill in Dublin’, and had a friend leak it to the public ‘to give them something to listen to.’” Ben admitted that the leak’s versions of Brainwascht, The Frown Song and Free Coffee were fake, so who knows what the hell this is, but it’s hilarious.
You can grab the entire fake “leak” here, and Ben set up the leak himself, so you don’t have to feel bad about it either.
